Making A Difference Heart to Heart partners with the National Coalition of Pastors' Spouses (NCPS), the National Heart Lung & Blood Institute (NHLBI), and the Heart Truth Campaign in May 2007

MDHTH will be partnered with the National Coalition of Pastors' Spouses (NCPS) to implement the "Heart Truth Women of Color Initiative" in five Black Churches in the coming year. Stephanie Supple recently attended and graduated from training for the "Heart Truth Women of Color Initiative"at the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute ( NHLBI) a branch of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Washington, DC.

NCPS was co-founded by Stephanie Supple, President of MDHTH, Dr. Caroline R. Norman,CEO, MDHTH along with pastors spouse, Mrs. Vivian Berryhill, following the initial "Hope for Her Heart " meeting hosted by MDHTH in Atlanta in January of 2001.. NCPS' goal is to raise education and awareness levels in minority communities, as well as improve risk identification for diseases and social ills that detrimentally impact the minority community. With over 2,500 pastors' spouses in their network, they introduce a different approach to addressing the healthcare needs within the minority population by creating a venue in which minorities, spearheaded by the pastors' spouse, are empowered with information, resources, and networking that will sustain the faith institution's healthcare programs indefinitely and allow them to be independent of outside intervention.

The "Heart Truth Women of Color Initiative" ,awarded to NCPS, is the realization of support and partnership for the original issue Supple and Norman based the "Hope for Her Heart" meeting in Atlanta on in 2001. MDHTH and NCPS will partner over the next year with National Heart Lung and Blood Institute and the Heart Truth Campaign to address cardiovascular disease in Black women and their families. What is the Heart Truth Campaign?

To make women more aware of the danger of heart disease, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), Mrs. Laura Bush, the national ambassador for The Heart Truth campaign, and partner organizations are sponsoring a national campaign called The Heart Truth.  The campaign's goal is to give women a personal and urgent wakeup call about their risk of heart disease. www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/hearttruth
